Review Policy

Last updated: February 28, 2026

RateMyImmigration is committed to maintaining a transparent review ecosystem. This policy describes what we require from reviewers, how we moderate content, how reviews may be removed, and how disputes are handled.

1. Who Can Submit a Review

Reviews may be submitted by anyone who has had a genuine, direct interaction with the immigration professional being reviewed. This includes:

  • Paid clients who engaged the consultant or lawyer for immigration services.
  • Individuals who had a paid or free consultation.
  • Individuals who were actively represented in an immigration matter.

We do not accept reviews from individuals who have not personally interacted with the professional, or from friends, family members, or associates submitting reviews on someone else's behalf.

2. Review Content Standards

All reviews must meet the following standards:

  • Truthful — Reviews must accurately describe your personal experience.
  • First-hand — Only submit a review for a professional you personally hired or consulted.
  • Relevant — Content must relate to the professional's services, communication, or results.
  • Respectful — Reviews must not contain hate speech, slurs, explicit content, or personal attacks unrelated to the professional service.
  • Not misleading — Do not omit material context that would change the interpretation of your experience.

3. Prohibited Review Content

Reviews that contain any of the following will be removed:

  • Fabricated or invented experiences.
  • Reviews submitted in exchange for payment, discount, gift, or other incentive.
  • Reviews posted by the professional themselves, their staff, or competitors.
  • Confidential information covered by immigration privilege or professional obligations.
  • Personally identifiable information about third parties (e.g., other clients).
  • Profanity, threats, or harassment.
  • Content that is defamatory or constitutes a false statement of fact.
  • Spam, promotional content, or links.

4. Review Moderation

Reviews are published after a basic automated and/or human moderation check. Moderation is not a guarantee of accuracy or authenticity — we do not adjudicate factual disputes between reviewers and professionals.

We reserve the right to edit reviews to remove prohibited content while preserving the reviewer's core experience, or to remove reviews entirely that cannot be made compliant.

5. User-Submitted Reviews

A “Verified” badge indicates that a review has passed certain internal checks designed to improve platform integrity, such as confirmation of submission method, account signals, or moderation review.

The Verified designation does not constitute confirmation of the reviewer's identity, client relationship, factual accuracy, or experience described. Reviews reflect the opinions of individual users.

6. Grounds for Review Removal

A review may be removed if:

  • It violates any content standard listed in Section 3.
  • The reviewer is found to have had no genuine interaction with the professional.
  • A court order or legal process requires its removal.
  • We determine, upon investigation, that the review is part of a coordinated manipulation campaign.

A negative review will notbe removed simply because the professional disputes the reviewer's account of events. Disagreement about facts alone is not grounds for removal.

7. Dispute Process

For reviewers: If your review was removed and you believe the removal was in error, you may appeal by emailing [email protected] with your review content, the professional's name, and an explanation of why you believe the removal was incorrect.

For professionals: If you believe a review about your profile violates this policy, you may submit a report using the flag/report feature on the review, or by emailing [email protected] with the profile URL, the review in question, and your basis for the dispute.

We aim to respond to all dispute requests within 10 business days. Our decisions are final but may be revisited if new evidence is provided.

8. Reviewer Anonymity

Reviewers may publish under a pseudonym or anonymously. We collect identifying information (e.g., email) during submission for fraud prevention purposes only. This information will not be shared with the reviewed professional or any third party, except as required by a valid legal process.

9. No Manipulation of Ratings

Any attempt to artificially inflate or deflate ratings — by a professional, their associates, or any other party — is a violation of our Terms of Service and may result in permanent removal of the profile from the Platform.
