Profile Removal Policy

1. Why Profiles Appear on Our Platform

Profiles on our platform may be created using publicly available professional information, including regulatory listings, business directories, and publicly accessible websites. These profiles are intended for informational purposes — to help individuals research, compare, and review immigration professionals.

Profiles are informational listings based on publicly available data and are not owned or controlled by the individuals listed. For details on where profile data comes from, see our Data Sources & Transparency page.

2. Profile Removal Requests

We understand that individuals may request removal of their profile. All removal requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To submit a request, email contact@ratemyimmigration.com with the subject line "Profile Removal Request", including:

A link to the profile in question
Your full name and professional credentials (if applicable)
The reason for your removal request
Any supporting documentation

We aim to respond within 10 business days. We may request additional information to process your request.

3. When We May Approve Removal

We may remove or anonymize a profile in situations such as:

The profile relates to the wrong individual (misidentification or duplication).
The individual is not a publicly practicing professional.
There are legitimate safety or legal concerns.
The individual is no longer practicing in a professional capacity (e.g., permanently retired or deceased).
A court order requiring removal has been issued.

4. When Profiles Are Generally Not Removed

We generally do not remove profiles of active professionals where the information displayed is:

Publicly available from regulatory or professional sources.
Accurate and relates to professional activities.

Removal will generally not be granted solely because the professional dislikes the reviews on their profile, disputes the content of those reviews, or has left practice temporarily.

5. Alternatives to Removal

In many cases, we offer alternatives to full profile removal, including:

Correction or updating of inaccurate information.
Review and removal of content that violates our Review Policy (e.g., defamatory, abusive, or misleading content).
The option to claim and manage your profile.
Limiting visibility of the profile (such as search engine de-indexing), where appropriate.

6. User-Generated Content & Content Standards

Reviews on our platform reflect the opinions and experiences of users. We do not guarantee their accuracy but will investigate and remove content that violates our policies or applicable laws. Our content standards are as follows:

Opinions — Genuine opinions based on personal experience are allowed, even if unfavourable.
False factual claims — Statements presented as fact that are demonstrably false will be removed.
Abuse and harassment — Threatening, harassing, or abusive content will be removed.

7. Re-Listing of Profiles

Profiles that have been removed may be re-listed in the future if based on publicly available professional information. This may occur when:

The individual resumes active professional practice.
Updated public regulatory data becomes available.
A user submits a new review for the individual.

If a profile is re-listed, the individual retains the right to submit a new removal request.

8. Data After Removal

If a profile is removed, we may retain anonymized review data in aggregate form for statistical purposes. All personally identifiable information associated with the profile will be deleted within 30 days of the approved removal request.
